Sicilian Wine Shines

Sicily has been seducing travelers for centuries! For wine lovers like me, seeing Sicily for the first time was more like a fairy-tail than a story assignment. Sicily is a place where pleasure is a priority, where sole della Sicilia is a secret weapon, and where wine, food and family come first. It was love at first sight and first sip at Firriato winery. The wine, the food, the friendly faces, and the accommodations were all first class.
Watch as Wine Oh TV’s Monique Soltani travels to Sicily and gets the royal treatment with Count Federico Lombardo di Monte Iato of Firrato Winery. With native varieties like Nero d’Avola, Perricone, Nerello Mascalese, Zibibbo, Grillo and Catarratto it’s no wonder why the wine in Sicily truly shines.
This is the first of three videos where Monique travels to Sicily for harvest 2016. Watch as Monique tries her hand at harvesting Zibibbo grapes, then she’s rewarded with a red wine tasting fit for a king, queen, or in this case a count, after that she discovers growing grapes on Favignana Island isn’t for the faint of heart.
