Red Carpet Rosé: Brangelina’s Miraval Provence Rosé

Hollywood heavy weights Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie aka “Brangelina” rule the red carpet but can the master the art of making fine wine? The Pitt and Jolie power couple released their first wine last year from French estate, Chateau Miraval, to rave reviews! The rosé from Provence, France even made Wine Spectator’s Top Wines of 2013 list coming in at #84. Pitt and Jolie have released the second vintage from their French estate, Chateau Miraval, this year and so far it’s a fan favorite. So we know the critics think the wine is a hit but what about everyday wine drinkers? Is this a wine that moms will warm up to? Is the price right and where is the cheapest place to buy Brad and Angie’s wine? What do you pair with a rosé anyway? Does this wine really rock? All of these questions and many more will be answered in this episode of the Wine Oh Wine Club.

What’s the Wine Oh Wine Club you wonder? Well, it’s kind of like a book club for wine. I thought it might be fun to get a group of wine loving gals with different tastes and perspectives together to drink some wine and share their thoughts on it based on their different backgrounds. The idea is NOT to have wine experts give their opinions on the wine, I wanted to bring a group of gals together, who like to have fun and love to drink wine! In this episode of the Wine Oh Wine Club we are joined by Gianna a.k.a Momma Wine Oh, Chasta a.k.a Rockin’ Wine Oh, Laura a.k.a Foodie Wine Oh, Deb a.k.a Budget Wine Oh and of course Monique a.k.a Wine Oh Wine Oh:) Through the course of the wine video series you can be sure that we will taste red wine, white wine, sweet wine, dry wine, sparkling wine and lets not forget Champagne!

We would also love for you to get involved and join our fun and wine filled community, so grab a bottle of the wine we tried in this video and let us know what you think! Or if you find a wine you want us to feature in the Wine Oh Wine Club please share that with us as well! Give us your feedback in the comments section below, on Facebook, Twitter. If you want to host your own Wine Oh Wine Club at home and share your thoughts with us even better!

If you can’t get your hot little hands on Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s rosé here are two rosé wines that I tasted recently and loved along with some info about the properties from their websites.

2013 Ousterhout Russian River Valley Pinot Noir Rosé

Rose Wine Angelina JolieThis classically-styled rosé has a light intensity in appearance with clear clarity and a light pink to dark salmon appearance. Sour red fruits, ruby grapefruit and stone fruits abound, supporting the bright, lively acidity. This is the perfect summer wine to pair with everything or simply drink on its own! The Ousterhout family vineyard is a small hillside property nestled among some of the areas finest wineries. With their property facing South-West, the five acres planted to Zinfandel thrive in the cool evenings and warm sunny afternoons.  Additionally, with the help of their winemaker Micah Wirth, they are fortunate to be able to acquire select lots of premium grapes for their Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir Rose. Faithfully, they practice meticulous hands-on attention through every phase of the wine making process which results in exceptional wines. Price $25

Mulderbosch Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé

Angelina Jolie Rose WineMade from 100% cabernet sauvignon, this wine is a bit bigger than your typical rosé so it can stand up to heavier, meat-based dishes, yet still maintains the refreshing qualities that a rosé should possess. Since its founding in 1989, Mulderbosch Vineyards has widely been accepted as one of South Africa’s foremost wine producers. In 2011 Mulderbosch was bought by California-based investment company Terroir Capital with well known wine investor Charles Banks at the helm, who had long desired to invest in the Cape Winelands.
