Cheers to the World’s Largest Wine Toast
The Napa Valley Wine Wave set a new world record when participants raised their glasses and clinked 478 times at Charles Krug Winery on Sunday. I’ll drink to that! The Napa Valley broke the former rolling wine wave record of 321 set in China in November 2011. The Wine Wave brought out wine lovers and aficionados alike including Peter Mondavi, Jr. and social media mom/maven Christine Trice founder of OMG I so need a glass of wine or I’m gonna sell my kids. The Wine Wave rules seemed simple enough Clink……Sip (Turn and face the next person) Clink……Sip, but getting into the Guinness Book of World Records was a history making moment.
In this wine video, Monique Soltani heads to the front lines as the wine wavers go for the gold. Reporting for her award-winning channel Wine Oh TV, Monique Soltani shows us what brought the wave to the Napa Valley and what it takes to break a world record!
The Wine Wavers enjoyed wines from the wineries of Appellation St. Helena and food trucks were on hand as wine lovers got to be apart of history.
Johanna Hessling also said she’s witnessed 33 events involving world records this year, including the largest margarita with Jimmy Buffet and the world’s longest hotdog.
The Napa Valley Wine Wave was produced by the Kiwanis Club of St. Helena, the St. Helena Chamber of Commerce, CHEERS! St. Helena, Main Street St. Helena and the wineries of Appellation St. Helena. Proceeds from the Napa Valley Wine Wave benefit scholarships provided through the St Helena Kiwanis Club, St Helena Chamber of Commerce and the Culinary Institute. The scholarship fund is aimed at educating students for careers in local industries including wine, food, agriculture and hospitality.
