Affairs of the Vine presents Romancing the Rhones: A Seductive Rhone Experience, at The Old Mint in San Francisco, a National Landmark on July 14, 2012. The public is invited to sample Rhones from California, Oregon and beyond at the Grand Tasting, featuring 40+ Rhone-producing wineries, many very small and as yet undiscovered. The Grand Tasting is in the Old Mint Vaults, where much of the nation’s currency was produced until World War II. Attendees will blind taste 40 of the finalists from the 2012 Rhone Shootout, pitting their palates against the experts and voting for their favorites, while enjoying food from local artisan vendors. Many Rhone varietals will be featured; Viognier, Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Carignane, Petite Sirah, and exciting blends. Attendees will discover new favorites to take home.Attendees can also experience a Rhone Romance luncheon at Chez Papa with winemakers Collin Cranor, Nottingham Cellars; Jaime Dowell, Bonny Doon; and Michael Donovan, RoxyAnn, as well as Barrel Tasting in the Vaults.
