Crisp Wine Picks
The official kick off to summer is this weekend. Memorial Day means it’s time to bust out the barbecue, pack a picnic and break out a bottle! With the switch of seasons, many people are taking a walk on the lighter side, and nothing quenches your thirst for summer like a refreshing bottle of white wine!
In this video, Wine Oh TV’s Monique Soltani makes a Grape Escape to the Wine Road less traveled and shows us why it’s a cool, cool summer in Northern Sonoma County!

The Balletto Winery is located in the southwest area of the Russian River Valley in the middle of the 280-acre Balletto family property. The western edges of the ranch border the Laguna de Santa Rosa vital wetland habitat, a home to many species of birds and animals. The Balletto family felt that the area of land they owned along the Laguna was so beautiful that it should be shared with others. They were able to come to an agreement with Sonoma County’s Agriculture Preservation & Open Space District to preserve this land for all those living in the area, and for visitors to wine county! Future visions include a seasonal trail for all to enjoy.
Taft Street Winery
2030 Barlow Lane, Sebastopol CA 95472
707-823-2049
It all began in the mid 1970’s in a garage on Taft Street in Oakland, CA, where John and Mike Tierney began making wines that amazed his family and friends. So amazed that we opened their wallets, broadened their horizons and created Taft Street Winery. They began operations in 1982 in the Russian River Valley with a production of several hundred cases of Chardonnay and a Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc blend. Eight times in ten years the Wine Spectator has called their Sonoma County Chardonnay a BEST BUY.
The tasting room is open 7 days a week to offer samples…often of wines that are in extremely limited production.
Tasting Room Hours: Monday-Friday from 11-4 or Saturday-Sunday 11-4:30.
