In this international edition, the women of the Wine Oh Wine Club travel to the South of France to taste a wine from one of the Languedoc-Roussillon region’s premiere producers, Gérard Bertrand. Five women give their different perspectives on one wine, a Rhone blend (Grenache/Syrah/Mourvedre) from the South of France and get a taste of “Art de Vivre” – the “art of life.”

Owner of 11 wine estates in the Languedoc-Roussillon, Gérard Bertrand was born in Corbieres in 1965. Today he’s an ambassador for the South of France. As a pioneer of biodynamic wines, he believes great wine comes from respecting the natural world and sustaining it for future generations. Bertrand is also committed to producing quality wines at a great value, which is exactly what we find in tasting the Gerard Bertrand Corbieres 2011 $15.99.

France French Wine Gerard BertrandAt a recent lunch at Boulevard in San Francisco, I had a chance to get to know Gérard Bertrand, taste some of his amazing wines and experience “Art de Vivre les Vins du Sud.” It was there where he unveiled his Clos d’Ora wine for the first time in the United States and gave me the scoop on his new book Wine, Moon and Stars.

The “quantum” wine, 17 years in the making, is the result of a spiritual awakening and Gérard’s desire to produce an exceptional wine at a mysterious and unspoiled spot in the Minervois.

Gérard Bertrand

“I want to create a wine able to resonate with the spirit and soul.”

“Wine is spirituality, it’s transcending, when you drink wine you have a chance to be better.”
