Wine & Spirits Magazine “Top 100” Tasting Event Wine & Spirits Magazine to Host 13th Annual “Top 100” Tasting Event in San Francisco on October 10th

Wine & Spirits magazine will announce its Top 100 wineries of 2016 with its Winter issue, inviting them all to gather at the 13th Annual Top 100 tasting event on Monday, October 10th, at San Francisco’s City View at METREON. The popular consumer and wine trade event, which benefits San Francisco Baykeeper, will feature over 200 top-scoring wines from producers who have earned the highest ranking from the magazine’s critics during a year of blind tastings by the editorial staff, guest sommeliers and retailers.

Joshua Greene, Wine & Spirits Publisher and Editor

“Guests at the Top 100 are bound to discover something new and delicious among some of the greatest names in the world of wine. Our staff critics each focus on a consistent set of regions; they lead panels for those regions with sommeliers and retailers who also know the regions well. Our panel recommends the wines, and then our critic rates them. This two-step blind process keeps us open to a range of perspectives while providing a consistent voice to our readers, helping them discover new wines.”

In addition, the magazine’s “Annual Buying Guide” marks its 30th edition in 2016 and debuts at the event on the eve of its release to the public. This collector’s edition will be on stands alongside the current issues through January 2017 and is a consumer’s go-to source for the year’s most drinkable wines, standout vintages and producers.

“Thirty years ago, when we established our Annual Buying Guide, our panels were tasting 4,000 wines a year compared to the 15,000 we taste now. We have fine-tuned our tasting process over the years to provide a distinctive service to our readers. As we have grown over the past 30 years, our team has remained remarkably stable: four of our six critics have been on staff for more than fifteen years,” says Greene.

Wine & Spirits Magazine “Top 100” Tasting Event Along with the sips, attendees at the Top 100 tasting event on October 10th will have the opportunity to sample food from restaurants on the magazine’s elite SF50, including: 1760, A16, Absinthe, À Côte, Barrel Room SF, Bellota, Cotogna, Foreign Cinema, Hillside Supper Club, RN74 and Smokestack.
