Wine and Wishes Bat KidRemember when Bat Kid saved San Francisco and stole our heart at the same time? Now you can help make more wishes come true at the 13th annual Wine and Wishes® . The event being held on Saturday, February 1st 2014 on Treasure Island, features the culinary talents of ten celebrated Bay Area chefs during the Winemaker Dinner and over 50 restaurants and wineries at the Gourmet Food & Wine Tasting.  The iconic Administration Building is the setting for the Food & Wine Tasting, and the Winemaker Dinner will be held in San Francisco’s only working winery at nearby Winery SF. This year’s event will bring together renowned culinary stars like James Beard Award winner Roland Passot of La Folie, Mark Dommen of One Market, Richard Reddington of Redd and Ken Frank of La Toque, among others, for the Winemaker Dinner. Wineries featured at the Tasting include Cakebread Cellars, Merry Edwards, and Heitz Wine Cellars among others. Restaurants include Luce, LarkCreekSteak, Picán and Farallon, which will provide its ever-popular oyster bar. In addition to sampling some of the Bay Area’s best food and wine, participants will get to know some of the wonderful children we serve through the wish stories that will be highlighted during the evening.

Wine and Wishes Bat KidThe evening begins at 6pm with a Gourmet Food & Wine Tasting, where attendees can sample signature hors d’oeuvres from 23 celebrated local restaurants and taste wine from 27 Bay Area wineries. Beer lovers can also enjoy tastes from a pair of local breweries. A special VIP Reception will offer tasting from coveted cult wineries Captûre Wines, Papapietro Perry, Patz & Hall and Valdez Family Winery and an amuse boûche from the evening’s Executive Chefs. At 8:00pm ten local executive chefs will prepare a four-course Winemaker Dinner, pairing each course with select wines. Dinner guests will also get a behind-the-scenes look at Miles’ wish to be Batkid and will be the first to see our exclusive video capturing never-before-seen interviews and footage from the wish. Tickets are now on sale for the Gourmet Food & Wine Tasting ($150/person) and the Winemaker Dinner ($500-$1,000 per person).

Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.  In 2013 Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area embarks on 29 years of fulfilling magical wishes.  During its first year of operation, in 1984, the chapter granted 27 wishes.  Now one of the largest chapters nationwide, the Greater Bay Area grants over 300 wishes per year and has granted over 6,000 wishes to date.  The chapter covers 17 Northern California counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino, Napa, Marin, Monterey, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Siskiyou, Solano and Sonoma.  The goal of Make-A-Wish is to grant a wish to every eligible child in its territory.  Anyone can suggest a child for a wish.
